So many of us are good at doing things for other people. We take a lot of pride in helping others. Our self identity is one of being helpful; oftentimes at a detriment to our own health. We do things at work for our bosses and coworkers. We do things at home for our kids and our spouses. And then when we do things for ourselves we usually resort to "relaxing" with screens; TV, social media, and endless scrolling. There are plenty of understandable reasons for this. But the problem is that "relaxing" with those things doesn't actually do anything to help our mental and physical health. In this episode we try to help you re-frame what taking time for yourself means, and how it will actually make you more able than ever to help other people.
